Privacy Policy — Bulk Image Downloader
Last updated: 2026-07-04
This policy explains how the Bulk Image Downloader browser extension handles your information. The published version of this policy is hosted at https://chinadeveloper.net/privacy/imgdown.
Summary
Bulk Image Downloader is a fully local tool. It does not collect, sell, or transmit any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no servers. Every action — finding, filtering, previewing and downloading images — happens entirely inside your own browser, on your own device.
What data we collect
None. We do not collect, store remotely, or share:
- Personal or contact information
- Browsing history or the list of tabs you open
- The images you view or download
- Any usage, analytics, or telemetry data
Data stored on your device
The extension saves a small amount of data locally, using chrome.storage, so it can
remember your preferences between sessions:
- Your image filter rules (width/height ranges, selected file types, sort order)
- Your light/dark theme choice
- The state of the optional "rate this extension" prompt
This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party. Removing the extension clears it.
Permissions and why they are needed
The extension requests only the permissions required for its features:
- downloads — Save the images you selected to your Downloads folder, and save a single image when you use the right-click menu. Triggered only by your explicit action.
- storage — Remember your own preferences locally (filter rules, theme, rating-prompt state), as described above. Nothing in storage is sent anywhere.
- contextMenus — Add a "Download image" item to the right-click menu so you can save any single image directly to Downloads.
- tabs — Enumerate the tabs in the current window so you can bulk download from all tabs, the current tab, or every tab to the left or right of it. No browsing history is collected or transmitted.
- scripting — Inject the extension's image-collecting script into the specific tab(s) you chose to act on, so it can list the images on those pages. The script runs locally.
- Host access (
*://*/*) — Because you can trigger the extension on any website, it needs permission to read image URLs from whatever page you are viewing. It reads the page locally only when you act, and sends nothing to any server.
Third parties
None. The extension does not integrate any advertising, analytics, or third-party data services, and does not share data with anyone.
Children's privacy
The extension collects no data from anyone, including children.
