This file is a mirror. The authoritative, publicly hosted policy lives at https://scrncap.xeviora.com/privacy and is generated from frontend/src/config/privacy.ts. That URL is the one submitted to the Chrome Web Store. Change the site copy first, then re-sync this file — never the other way round.

ScrnCap ("the extension") is a screenshot tool that runs entirely inside your web browser. Every screenshot is captured, annotated and exported on your own device — including the paid features. No image ever reaches our servers. The website (scrncap.xeviora.com) hosts three things and nothing more: an optional account, checkout, and a licence lookup the extension calls once you have signed in.

Data we collect

No image data, ever. ScrnCap does not collect, store on any server, transmit, share, or sell any screenshot content or browsing history. Every screenshot you take — free or paid — is captured, annotated and exported locally on your own device. Your settings, capture history and project files stay in your browser via the standard extension storage and never leave your machine.

If you never create an account, the extension never contacts us. Capturing, annotating and exporting work with no network access at all. The first request to our servers only happens after you click a sign-in or restore-purchase button yourself.

If you do create an account, we store your email address, a password hash (or the identifier from the social provider you chose), and your subscription status. That is the entire list — we do not count or record how you use the extension.

Accounts and subscriptions

An account is optional and is only needed to unlock the paid features. Sign-in is handled on the website; the session cookie is set on scrncap.xeviora.com only and is never shared with other Xeviora sites.

Payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Ltd, which acts as the merchant of record. We never see or store your card details. Paddle sends us the resulting subscription status so the paid features can be unlocked on your account.

When the extension checks whether your account is entitled to the paid features, it sends a single request carrying only your session cookie. That request contains no page URL, no page content and no image data. The reply is your plan and its expiry — nothing else.

You can delete your account by writing to the contact address below; deleting it removes your email, session and subscription rows from our database.

Permissions and why they are needed

• activeTab — Grants one-time access to the current tab only when you trigger a capture, so its pixels can be read for the screenshot.
• scripting — Injects the measurement, scrolling, and selection-overlay helpers into the page on demand during a capture. ScrnCap does not run a persistent content script.
• tabs — Reads tab titles/URLs and switches the active tab when you batch-capture several open tabs in sequence.
• storage — Persists your settings and hands the captured image to the local preview/editor page.
• unlimitedStorage — Lets large full-page or batch captures be held locally without hitting the small default storage quota.
• contextMenus — Adds right-click capture entries on the page.
• downloads — Saves the exported image or PDF to your Downloads folder.
• Host access (<all_urls>) — Required so capture (and the temporary capture helpers) can work on whatever page you are on; full-page, region and fixed-size modes need to read and scroll the current page. Access happens only when you start a capture. The same permission carries the signed-in licence check to scrncap.xeviora.com, which sends nothing but your session cookie.

Analytics and tracking

ScrnCap contains no analytics, no advertising scripts and no third-party trackers. Your theme and language preference are kept in local browser storage and are never sent anywhere.

Remote code

ScrnCap does not load or execute any remote code. All JavaScript and WebAssembly are bundled in the extension package.
